ELECTRICAL STIMULATION (E-stim)
Electrical stimulation is beneficial to the body to reduce pain, increase the blood flow to an injured area, decrease swelling, and increase healing. It can also be used to prevent atrophy in muscles in patients with neurological deficits, post-surgical or stroke patients, and around bones that been broken by causing the muscles to fire. E-stim helps control pain by allowing the body to produce natural pain killers called endorphins. By placing electrode pads on the skin, electrical pulses travel into the area of injury, which speeds the healing process.
